Klein tools was founded in 1857 in Chicago, Illinois by Mathias Klein.  The first tool created were side cutting pliers for a telegraph lineman, making the company grow in the telephone industry as well as in the electrical industry. Creating 100 different types of pliers during the 1910s and then extending the product line during the 60s-80s. The company continued to grow after purchasing different companies during the following years such as  the R.H. Buhrke Company of Fort Smith  and the Vaco Products Company of Jonesville.

In 2006 Klein tools added Klein Connection, an e-commerce site, to ensure a wider distribution of Klein products. In 2011 and 2014 Klein tools made another expansion to the business by opening their new advanced manufacturing facility and a new heat-treating facility.

Throughout the year Klein tools has become a household name and now offers more than 3,800 different tools in its line-up.
